During the summer after 10th grade, I went to the Philippines to study English. That time, a lot of dark-skinned children often came to the side of the school asking me for candy, food… And I also volunteered at a church where the same children were located. This summer, I donated part of the profits from Mo Café (my extracurricular activities shop) to Da Kao and Da Tong schools, giving out cakes, books, noodles, pens, rulers, etc. I realized that in both Vietnam and the Philippines, these underprivileged children were far from having good study conditions like me. One child's mother had cancer, underwent multiple surgeries, and eventually passed away. Meanwhile, I had the opportunity to learn about brown rice and how to regulate my diet to prevent further surgeries. I realized I had so much important knowledge. How could I turn my good conditions and unique knowledge into concrete actions to help others? From this thought, I proposed a doctoral thesis topic to a university in the US: "Selecting the right food to avoid repeat surgeries"."

In addition to being poor, the kid has lost her mother.
